I like the fact that Fr. Dawid wears the amice (and wears it properly, as we see in Papal Masses). This is a nice traditional touch in vesture (along with the square necked or the drawstring type alb) that is still too seldom seen in most parishes with the velcro necked alb still seeming to be the overwhelming favorite.

Now if you fellows could only be convinced to get some birettas . .

Are not amices explicitly required for all sacred ministers in the EF, Joseph? Yes, I do abhor velcro-necked albs; they really are so ugly.

Now, Father, if your blog viewers would contribute to a fund, would you purchase birettas for you and your clergy?

Of course you know that there is to be mutual enrichment of both Masses with SP, so the more comfortable built in amices are my choice, although with a polyester blend! As it concerns the biretta one can only image what it does to this child of the '60's hair! :)

Father,
As to your apparent reluctance to wear the biretta--I'm sure that there are "children of the 60's" among the ranks of the episcopate as well as among the College of Cardinals and yet they must be hatted with mitres and red birettas! Surely there are times that you wear a cap in your leisure . .

The elevation picture shows both deacon and subdeacon kneeling behind the celebrant. Since in the Requiem Mass the s/d is not required to hold the paten in a humeral veil, he should be kneeling on the epistle side facing inwards and doing the incensations.

BTW your thurible seems lidless as they are in the Ambrosian Rite, but I suspect this may be a 'designer thurible' or 'Holy Hand-grenade of Antioch' as we traddies describe it.

The important thing is to do it, and not be too bothered about making mistakes. The MC is the one expected to have Fortescue in his veins, and I have seen good ones arrange and rehearse for a Pontifical Mass priests who are completely at home with the Usus Antiquior. Don't forget that the Bishop in a PHM has an Assistant Priest to tell him what to do.

Well done-we had solemn masses with absolution at the catafalque in Mableton Ga, Macon Ga and in the cathedral in Savannah Ga. Who would have thought this would happen a few years ago. There is HOPE for the future!!!!

What a beautiful and heartfelt Liturgy St Joseph's has. You are exemplar.

FWIW, you misspelled 'RADON' in the title of the post.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

The spelling is fixed, oddly enough blopgspot has spell check for the body of the post, but it doesn't include the heading--I wish they would fix that or I could learn how to spell or detect my misspells!

Actually, I read it a couple of times before I noticed it consciously. Should have said 'RADAR'.
