THIS BISHOP AND I ARE ON THE SAME PAGE, I WONDER IF HE READS MY BLOG?

Press here to listen to Bishop Alexander Sample of Marquette He likes the reform of the reform of the Ordinary Form of the Mass. He likes Ad Orientem and kneeling for Holy Communion. Of course these two things are no-brainers.

So, you think I should forward your post to my Abp? ;)

I was already familiar with Bishop Sample and I eagerly listened to his interview. We are about the same age (he was born in 1960, myself in 1961).

I could relate to everything he said about past experience with the liturgy, starting with the "transitional" liturgy after Vatican II, growing up with the Mass of Paul VI, and discovering the Extraordinary Form for the first time as a younger adult.

I hope we see more priests (and, now, bishops) with his attitude and viewpoints on liturgy as we see more and more clergy who were born after 1960.

And he likes lingua latina! This man is an Excellent bishop, formed by the equally Excellent Mons. Schuler of St. Agnes Fame.

St. Agnes parish never stopped saying Mass ad orientem, never stopped using the altar rails, never stopped saying Mass entirely in Latin. They still do, to this day. They have a POLYPHONIC ORCHESTRAL Mass EVERY Sunday. And a different one for each Sunday. They have something like 30 different Masses by the most magnificent composers in their repertoire. Their music program is just fantastic.

So yes, it doesn't surprise me that His Excellency holds the views he does. This man was formed by the same Monsignor who formed Fr. Z! They know each other quite well.
