Another perspective on ad orientem--the priest leading
Obviously he's a Novus Ordo mess. No CASSOCK!
Yes! And an unbuttoned tab collar!
You people posting comments are joking, right?
He was wearing a kayak. It is cool he knew the history of evangelization of North America. I wish he had stopped by my house. We have sweet red wine we could have given him!
The tragic loss of CATHOLIC IDENTITY since the disastrous Second Vatican Pity Party is NO JOKE!When a priest is in public he should be IMMEDIATELY recognizable as a PRIEST. This kayaking "minister" is a joke. He obviously has never celebrated The Mass Of The Ages!!! Had he done so he would KNOW who he IS and DRESS accordingly. And, as tradition demands, the kayak should be BLACK! Oh TEMPURA! Oh MORAYS!
Fr. Bergeron is a very zealous French Canadian priest of the new Canadian order, the Companions of the Cross. My impression is that they are somewhat charismatic. Nevertheless he celebrates the Novus Ordo for us at the downtown Houston chapel, Holy Cross, and does a good job. His homilies are very orthodox.
Actually he belongs to the Companions of the Cross,.. solidly orthodox btw,.. And yes, I have seen him wear a cassock before. Not sure if kayaking in a cassock is easy though! lol!
Anonymous,Catholic priests in the USA were usually not permitted to wear cassocks in public until 1998, due to ecclesial legislation that long predated the introduction of the reformed order of Mass.
considering the catastrophe going on in Texas, I personally could give you know what about a collar or cassock, The holy man is trying his best to help his flock, more that I can say for some. God Speed Father and my your guardian angel assist you
1998? You've GOT to be KIDDING!I saw MANY priests - well, LOTS of priests, well, a few priests- wearing CASSOCKS in the United States LONG before 1998.Ecclesiastical Legislation that contradicts the WILL OF CHRIST is not legislation at all. It's not worth the vellum it is written with a quill pen on!
I think the first comment was tongue in cheek because obviously a priest in a disaster zone with water everywhere would not wear a cassock that could hamper the physical activity needed in such a horrible situation with water everywhere. Most people remove heavy clothing if they have to swim. I don't recommend shoes or a cassock if one might be in a drowning situation. The video shows a very positive role model of a priest, well spoken and trying to help.
Hopefully the priest is not wading too deeply into the water...reports from Houston about lots of gators seeking higher ground, ending up in people's back yards. not to mention deadly rattlesnakes and water moccasins (all critters you no doubt deal with along the Georgia coast!)
Father MCDonald, Amen!
Wonder how far out that psychic reader saw this comming?
