The last day of the Easter Season should be next Sabbath. We need to see the Octave of Pentecost restored.

Agreed about the Octave of Pentecost which the Anglican Ordinariate has recovered which tells me that the general Latin Rite will too as their Roman Missal had to pass through not only the Congregation for Divine Worship but also the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Obviously they had "defenders" or "promoters" for their liturgical causes which were heard and approved, first under Pope Benedict but ultimately it was Pope Francis who issued their new Roman Missal which I hear is still awaiting final printing.

The Octave of Pentecost exists in the Roman Rite.

In the schismatic Novus Ordo service, it has been abolished.

Well, there you have it. The Great and Powerful Oz has spoken.

We Novus Ordoians are now schismatic by his/her decree.

Wheeeeeeeee!

How can the Ordinariate 'recover' the Octave of Pentecost with its three Ember Days since they use the Novus Ordo Roman lectionary?

Lefebvrian is quite correct about the Octave not having been removed from the Roman Rite. Cardinal Burke will celebrate Pontifical Low Mass for the Ember Wednesday at St Augustine and St Gregory, Oxford.

The previous evening he will celebrate a Pontifical Solemn Mass (in Latin) at the Oxford Oratory according to the Pauline Missal. I doubt that this makes him a schismatic.

By all means point out the deficiencies in the Novus Ordo. I have no qualms about calling it a dog's breakfast of a rite, and will give my reasons. But you can't say it's schismatic; it plainly isn't.
